My dad got some old workstation towers from work because they didn't support windows 11, so he gave one to me. I already installed Arch and hyprland successfully, and when using btop the gpu isn't showing up. I found out it had something to do with rocm-smi, so I installed it and it still didn't show in btop. Running rocm-smi myself doesn't show any gpus, even though fastfetch found it. rocm-smi is also saying that the gpu is in an low-power state, i think.

=========================================== End of ROCm SMI Log ============================================I've also searched a bunch for how to change the gpu power mode or take it out of low-power mode but I couldn't find anything. The gpu does work, at least well enough for ~100-120 fps in hl2 high settings, and the displayport cable is coming out of the gpu. The gpu is an old AMD FirePro V7900 from 2011 according to what i found online
Basically I just want it to show in btop, and from what I found that means it needs to show in rocm-smi as well. Having it show in rocm-smi would probably let other apps make better use of it as well

" AMD FirePro V7900", TeraScale 3 is a legacy/old architecture, like the latest AMD ROCm requires GCN based or newer cards. ROCm stacks simply doesnt know how to talk with the hardware. so yes you cannot make btop to show it , use alternatives.

I expect some mercy from my fellow humans! ^^
Keep your virtue sharpened in a kingdom of carrion, and the throne they offer will be built from your ribs.

btop was started in 2021, you'll have to look for another tool.
Check https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Graphi … Monitoring for alternatives

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky
