Dualshock 2 in USB Adapter D-Pad as Axis issue

Good afternoon,

I’m having trouble using both my DualShock 2 and my dancing pad, because in both cases the D-Pad is detected as an axis instead of buttons.

On the DualShock 2, this prevents me from playing on retrogames.cc, since the site does not recognize axis inputs.
On the dancing pad, this makes it impossible to perform simultaneous LEFT/RIGHT and UP/DOWN inputs.

The adapter ports are /dev/input/js0 and /dev/input/js1, respectively. Both devices are detected as Twin USB Joystick.

I have already tested them with jstest, jstest-gtk, and in the browser (HTML), and there are no issues with input detection itself.

I also tried the following solutions, without success:

modprobe xpad dpad_to_buttons=1
axisfix

I then attempted to use xboxdrv with dpad-as-button=true, but every time I try to run it I get this error:

[ERROR] spawn_exe(): /dev/input/event1: exec failed: Permission denied
Shutdown complete

My user is already in the input group (I know this is not recommended, but I tried it specifically for xboxdrv), yet the permission error still occurs.

I also tried configuring the devices with sc-controller, which mostly solved the problem. However, it introduced a new issue: the left analog stick is constantly detected as being pressed downward.

If anyone knows how to solve this issue, I would really appreciate the help.
