Hi, I am trying to install cups to be able to use my printer, but it seems there's some problem. I don't know if its because upgrades(Read on frontpage cups is upgraded to 1.2.10-1) or just a glitch. This happens both on swedish(ftp.gigabit.nu) mirror and on the main site(ftp.archlinux.org).
Should I just wait or download packages manually
[root@apc ~]# pacman -S cups
Targets: openslp-1.2.1-1 cups-1.2.9-1
Total Package Size: 2.9 MB
Proceed with upgrade? [Y/n] y

i'm having upgrade problems, too. i tried every server in the pacman files and it only gets a few Kb at a time before stalling out. the mirrors must be syncing, would be my guess. i think it might be related to what one of the devs (i think it was) mentioned a few days ago about people setting up mirrors for local networks who don't really need to and hogging all the resources.
>> just tried some of the european mirrors, they seem to be working a little better. it must be some greedy "me me me" americans taking up all the server bandwidth for their 2 PC networks.

When I connect manually to ftp.gigabit.nu I find myself in / and the dist directory seems to be /current/os/i686 but while using pacman it tries to use /pub/linux/distributions/archlinux/current/os/i686/
Seems there's something changed or a link is missing...
I suppose I can download the package itself manually and install with 'pacman -U' ..
Worked as far as I can see.
I downloaded cups/libcups 1.2.10-1, installed with pacman -U(including dependencies) and daemon is now running. Time to see if I can actually make a printer work
