Contrast Issues on 100% Display Brightness

Hi all,

since the last update I have an interesting new feature - high contrast / color reduction and font issues, but only on 100% display brightness.
Someone else affected?

Re: Contrast Issues on 100% Display Brightness

I'm having the same issue since I ran a full system update about three days ago.

I've only seen it happen under these circumstances:
1. It only happens on my laptop display. I have two displays: a laptop display and an external display connected via USB-C (via HDMI on a USB-C hub).
2. I've only seen it happen on a Google Chrome window (google-chrome 144.0.7559.59-1)
3. It seems tied to the window, as the issue isn't present on a new Chrome window.
4. I'm quite sure it's more common (or maybe only happens) if the display was "off" and turns on again (such as after locking the system and leaving it for a while so the displays turn off).
5. The issue isn't present on screenshots of the affected window.

To illustrate the issue I took some photos.
1. The left half of this photo shows and affected chrome window, and the right shows the same page on an unaffected Chrome window. You can see that the left window's contrast is completely "blown out", especially when looking at the header image.
2. In this photo you can see the how "jagged" the font is on the affected window, whereas this photo shows the same up close font on an unaffected window.

Re: Contrast Issues on 100% Display Brightness

I think I found the issue, but don't have time to try the workaround right now.

See this Reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/1 … ors_color/

It seems to be related to Chrome's new "WaylandWpColorManagerV1" feature for HDR displays, which can be disabled with a flag.
