i have been following this guide https://github.com/korvahannu/arch-nvid … tion-guide but with paru instead of yay, nvidia installs have been a nightmare to get right but i think now ive finally gotten the correct ones installed
im at step 3 and no matter what i do (and ive tried what other people have been through on other threads) it can't find the modules for it to work, im worried to move on or even let my system shut down in case something breaks.
at the '''sudo mkinitcpio -P''' stage it always returns:
==> ERROR: module not found: 'nvidia'
==> ERROR: module not found: 'nvidia_modeset'
==> ERROR: module not found: 'nvidia_uvm'
==> ERROR: module not found: 'nvidia_drm'
despite me having made sure to download all the correct drivers
im completely lost (and very new to arch), does anyone know some pointers to get me going in the right direction w/ this?
many thanks to all who respond ![]()

So you're following an out of date, 3rd party guide instead of reading the wiki. No wonder it's been a nightmare. What, exactly, have you installed?

nvidia-580xx-dkms, im on an MX250 on my laptop which should be running pascal architecture so that should be the right one
should i just uninstall everything and start over and work through the wiki instead?

OK, and when you installed that, did the modules actually build or did it throw errors? What kernel(s) are you using and are the headers installed for them?

im using 6.18.13-arch1-1, installed linux-headers and it the error has disappeared! i started this endeavour late last night so must've missed it initially, thank you for pointing my error out!
i'll mark as solved
