Rust (game) eats a lot of RAM

I have a problem with Rust
I have 16gb of ram and i have a problem with rust, i can open the game but when i try to get on a server my game crashes.
After the game crashes i get a notification from kernel that it closed steam due to not having enough RAM. what should i do?

However w/ https://www.mobygames.com/game/63157/rust/specs/ are you sure you're OOM from the game?
What does the RAM situation look like w/o running the game?

it looks like ram is used around 4 gigs without the game, just arch, contour (console) and system monitor opened
the specs you sent on the link are very old, well, rust clearly needs more than 8 gigs of ram, sadly
I'll try to do a swap file, thank you, again

got memory swap, still game crashing but i think i'll reinstall it tomorrow with 16 gigs now and it won't (measured after the game crashed again)

That's not at all the output I asked for - why are you using so much RAM?

Reinstalling the game won't achieve anything, the moment you said "swapon" you had 16GB memory (half of it swap and that's already in decent use and the filesystem cache isn't the problem either)

Because that's not the list you presented before

Most of that actually goes to firefox (many tabs/extensions?), plasma and discord (an electron application) - 1GB goes to inactive file cache.
Browsers and electron are notorious heavyweights, stuff like kded6, ksecretd and the xdg desktop portal implementation clocking in > 200MB RSS is rather surprisingly much ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's not gonna help you /that/ much but why are you running konsole AND contour?

contour is for dpi bypass script running, and konsole is for commands that i need to copy output from

You don't need to run a non-interactive script as foreground process in a TE and you can have multiple tabs and windows in konsole (and probably countour) and of course there's always tmux.
