Tried to install xrt since it entered the extra repository. Both xrt and mpd contain /usr/bin/mpd. Is there any workaround available?

Not reasonably (you could eg. rename the mpd binary and service to actual.mpd/.service and edit the service file accordingly before installing xrt but will run into the same trouble w/ the next update)
I'm not sure how much this is downstream solvable, the suggested bug report will (ideally) just result in formally expressing the situation by having the packages conflicting each other.

Looks like the latest version of the xrt package no longer has /usr/bin/mpd, problem solved.
