AMD Rembrandt (MSI Thin A15) internal microphone not available (ALC256

Hi,

I am using Arch Linux on the following system:

Laptop: MSI Thin A15 B7VF
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS (Rembrandt)

Kernel:
Linux 6.19.10-arch1-1 x86_64

Audio system:
PulseAudio (on PipeWire 1.6.2)

Problem:
The internal microphone is detected but not available. It appears in PipeWire, but its port is marked as "not available" and does not capture any input.

Key observation:
`analog-input-mic: Microphone (not available)`

Outputs:

aplay -l:

* NVIDIA HDMI devices
* AMD HDMI devices
* Realtek ALC256 Analog (card2)

arecord -l:

* Only ALC256 Analog capture device is present

lspci:

* snd_hda_intel (for HDA controllers)
* snd_pci_acp6x (AMD Audio Coprocessor)

pactl list sources:

* Source exists (ALC256 Analog)
* Port: analog-input-mic → not available

What I tried:

* Installed sof-firmware
* Checked alsamixer (no usable capture input)
* Tried modprobe config (dsp_driver=3)
* Rebooted system

Result:
Microphone is still not usable.

Question:
Is this caused by a wrong driver selection between snd_hda_intel and SOF/ACP?
Should I disable ACP or force a different driver for Rembrandt?

Any guidance is appreciated.

Hi,

No, this was not automatically generated or posted by a bot.

I wrote the post myself, but I used AI to help structure it more clearly and in proper technical English, since I am not a native speaker.

All the information, commands, and outputs are from my own system and reflect the real issue I am experiencing.

If anything is unclear, I can clarify or provide additional details.

Thanks.
