hello guys, i know the archlinux server has been going through a hard time.. but i hadnt read the posts yet when i ran pacman... now it has been stuck for at least 30 minutes... what shall i do to stop pacman and to download from another server? the pacget script seems not to work for me :S
best regards

It's OK to kill it, edit your pacman.conf, and then start again. pacman will pick up where it left off.

look at /etc/pacman.d, you'll find there mirrors lists for each repo, just put the one you want to use at the top of the list.
ctrl+c to stop console apps

just edit pacman.d for all the mirrors you use/nearest to you. /etc/pacman.d/current pacman.d/extra pacman.d/community pacman.d/unstable.
this brings up a question. there is a pacman.d/release file as well. is that the same as testing? or is it just something planned for future use?

ctrl + z usually just puts the process in the background, does not actually kill it. I realized this on my web server when i closed nano, but hit control + z on accident, ~3 days later the server came to a crawl and a quick top revealed that nano (from a few days ealier) was using 100% cpu.
