[SOLVED] Steam runtime window freezes and closes

I've had this problem for a while now. For some reason, when I enter the "downloads" section on steam, after a few seconds it freezes, and the window closes. The runtime does not crash, because the appindicator icon doesn't go away, and I can just reopen it.
This also happens when I go to my game library. (but it doesn't happen everytime)
I'm on Gnome 50 (wayland) on a laptop with the GPU set to Nvidia (optimus, not mux) using envycontrol. I've tested it on intel and hybrid mode, and neither has fixed it.

I can give supplementary details if needed.

When you run steam from an interactive shell (terminal) does it print errors/warnings when this happens?

But no, the terminal log doesn't have anything of significance to my knowledge. When the window closes, there's absolutely nothing, and when it's about to open again, (normally it reopens automatically) it prints this:

Steam uses a lot of shell scripts to launch the client, so I couldn't find the actual binary and debug it. But

I'd just look at whatever the mos recent coredumps are and whether they seem steam-related.

There're maybe vulkan-related issues.

I'll get back to you on uncomposited X11. Gnome X11 (When it was a thing) (and yes, I know it's composited) didn't fix it. I also don't think it's a vulkan issue because the webhelper only freezes and closes in a particular page, and also it wouldn't persist when I switched to integrated graphics.

Adwaita is deliberately broken by the gnome developers because they don't care about non core-gnome applications, https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 8#p2160888
So you'd have to fix that for them and sure.

Lovely, so the problem is the cursor theme I created. Yup, changing it to Yaru fixes it. Adwaita also doesn't seem to have a problem either, fortunately.
