libxfonts was missing from a lot of mirrors today during pacman update

I got this error today when installing the libxfont update. Looks like it finally found one in the end because when I ran checkupdates again after the update finished and it was empty. Same as pacman -S. 0 packages to update.

My question is: Is there a list of mirrors I should update? Is this normal? I used ftp.ca.arch...something during arch install. I indeed live in Canada. I'd appreciate some instructions if I  have to add to a mirror list or something.

Reflector works well for me: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Reflector

I had to look up the name. Using the systemd service so long I forgot it.

Re: libxfonts was missing from a lot of mirrors today during pacman update

While reflector makes the mirror maintainence easy, the primary source would be  https://archlinux.org/mirrorlist/ - make sure to incorporate the https://archlinux.org/mirrors/status/ but ca.mirrors.cicku.me seems to have completed synchronization.
One way you might run into this is if you got the database from a faster syncing mirror, but that dropped out and the subsequently used mirrors are synced, but to an earlier state (because they only sync every 24h and the first mirror syncs every hour or something like this)

Fwwi, reflector itself must unfortunately currently be considered unmaintained, https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 3#p2281663

Re: libxfonts was missing from a lot of mirrors today during pacman update

Thanks for the help! This update was scary big yesterday! The list was very long. I only remember seeing a new kde plasma in there plus the libxfont. It was the first time I ever got the 404 not found error and in that long list of updates, only libxfont complained.  Being a new Arch user, I admit I'm a bit trigger happy with pacman -Syu. I run it every day and last time I hard run it was the night before and the very next morning I already had a huge list of updates already so probably not all mirrors had finished syncing?

Hard to tell after the fact, mirrors and 404's aren't logged in pacman.log - should you run into this again you'll have to pay attention/preserve the output of that pacman instance.
