hi,
im making a music player for arch, its a hobby project
but i want to add smth nice to it.
i want to flashbang the user,
heres how it will play out:
*user tries to activate light mode* -> *app asks 5 times if the user is sure* *if the user is sure, then the app goes full white and plays an audio file which is basically just scout from tf2 saying "think fast chucklenuts", if the user is not sure the app will proceed normally to dark mode* *after the flashbang the app will normally display in light mode, no strobing lights or anything*
so, is it alright for aur? im using the GPLv3 license.
hoping if an AUR TU can answer my query so i know my limitations here in the AUR.

oh and can someone tell me when i can go ahead and push new packages to the aur?
i havent even received any aur package updates, but why?
im sorry if this is viewed as "bumping" but i swear to god i just learned about bumping rules on the aur, hence im editing this to avoid bumping. sorry.

Your idea does not meet the requirements for being acceptable in the AUR ( https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/AUR_su … guidelines ) for these reasons:
1. Make sure the package you want to upload is useful.
Your hobby project is not useful at all, it's a mere joke for people liking the light themes
2. Is it extremely specialized?
It's extremely specialized to the light theme users
3. If more than a few people would find this package useful, it is appropriate for submission.
Your code was not yet written so the package is not popular at all, no people has ever used it and so no-one could even think this software is useful
In the case you'd upload your package, someone will flag it as unwanted the the PMs will delete it for being your toy project for yourself, not meeting the requirements for being in AUR.
The previous reasons are based on the meme-side of your project. At the opposite, if the software is already developed, used by many people, appreciated and popular by other users and have others features than the meme-light-theme feature, it could be welcomed in AUR but please avoid to upload trash with no meaning if it's not the case.
Actually the AUR is entirely locked down to limit the abuse and the spread of malwares. There's not any expected date when the AUR will be opened again, it may happen soon, but please don't ask for a specific date, it's not planned yet.
Regards

alright thanks, ill see if like idk 500 ish people star it then finally debug and upload to the aur, and maybe add a meme toggle so people can enjoy either memes, or a normal working app
lmk if its acceptable.
on the note of the aur being down: damn.

@Muflone do you have any suggestions for positive contributions a user could make?

@loqs at the current stage, reporting malwares spreading on aur-general list is pretty enough, useful and appreciated
