[SOLVED] lib32-libcap missing from multilib repo

Hi!

I tried upgrading (sudo pacman -Syu) my Arch install from about a year ago but run into the following error:

:: Synchronising package databases...
 core is up to date
 extra is up to date
 multilib is up to date
:: Starting full system upgrade...
:: Replace hyprland-qtutils with extra/hyprland-guiutils? [Y/n]
:: Replace kdsoap-qt6 with extra/kdsoap? [Y/n]
resolving dependencies...
looking for conflicting packages...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: installing libcap (2.78-1) breaks dependency 'libcap=2.76' required by lib32-libcap

This error persists with enabled multilib repo and up-to-date mirrors.
I checked the package index and found that the "lib32-libcap" seems removed from multilib.

https://archlinux.org/packages/multilib … b32-libcap shows: "lib32-libcap 2.78-1 has been removed from the [multilib] repository."

I assume the package should exist and is missing unintentionally. How can I resolve this issue?

Thanks in advance. This is my first post.

Re: [SOLVED] lib32-libcap missing from multilib repo

It has been dropped to the AUR: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/lib32-libcap

Presumably nothing in the official repos depended on it.

Making lemonade from lemons since 2015.

@WorMzy Ah right I forgot to check the AUR. Thanks for the hint!

Hi! I see the thread has been marked as solved: may I ask you what did you do after finding the package in the AUR? Did you manually upgrade it?

Thanks

Re: [SOLVED] lib32-libcap missing from multilib repo

zhnz probably upgraded to the version in AUR as is expected of archlinux users of aur packages.
(once something is dropped from repos to aur it's treated exactly the same as any other aur package)

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

Or removed the package as unused.
