on my laptop HP ProBook 450 G10 (Raptor Lake-P, BIOS V72 01.13.01) with Arch Linux 7.2.4-arch1-2, i bought a USB-C PD dock with DisplayPort + USB LAN (RTL8153) + hubs. On an identical Windows machine the same dock gets SuperSpeed and full Gigabit. On this Arch laptop it does not. It's not an Arch related problem. I also tried other Live distro.
Dock tree appears only on PCH USB2 (lsusb -t → 480M). PCH SuperSpeed root hub (10000M) and Thunderbolt USB controller (20000M) stay empty.
DP Alt Mode (4K@60) work, but I have the feeling that it doesn't hold securely. HID/audio over the dock work at USB2 speeds.
The main problem is that the dock's LAN connection limits the maximum speed, preventing me from utilizing the corporate network at full speed. I know I could use the laptop's physical ports, but since I frequently move between offices, unplugging a single cable instead of 4 or 5 is definitely more convenient.
I tried tinkering with the SSDT as well...
- ACPI device USBC000 / SSDT UcsiAcpi present; ucsi_acpi often fails to bind usefully.
- UCSI shared memory VERSION stays 0x0000.
- HP _DSM func 2 (READ) is an empty stub (no EC→OPREGION sync).
- After forcing VERSION and/or an SSDT override that implements READ via EC sync (USRD), the table loads, but then: ucsi_acpi: failed to reset PPM! / PPM init failed (-ETIMEDOUT).
- So SuperSpeed mux never switches; USB stays on the USB2 path.
I’m wondering if anyone has ever come across a similar problem and has any suggestions.
