I have been trying to install Arch on a Compaq N800v laptop. After installing using the instructions in the guide, I have not even been able to get a command line. I just see the initial Grub prompt, but then nothing at all after that.
I have managed to install Kubuntu without any problems, but have had this problem with the Debian Sarge net installation disk, Slax and the OpenSuse 10.2 netinstall disk.
What is Kubuntu doing that the rest of the distros are not?

Update - PCLinuxOS boots up OK, but now I can't get networking going.
I'm still holding a flame for Arch.
