New unofficial user repository: enhancedX11

Recently a new unofficial user repository was added to the Arch Wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Unoffi … nhancedX11

It contains a collection of functionallity and performance enhanced X.Org X11 server packages, drivers and more, mostly for X11. The packages are signed and indexed, and new and updated ones are added regularly.

Where can users see the PKGBUILDS you use to build the binaries and what environment are they built in ?

Are updates reviewed by humans before they're applied ?

The PKGBUILDs will be provided at some time but in general don't differ much from Arch's of the AUR (after review of course).
The packages are all built in a clean chroot each time on Arch Linux.
There's no AI/Vibe coding involved, only human work.
The packages are already being used by another distribution.

A known issue is that on AMPGPU and QEMU Virtio Video graphic cards the mouse cursor is displayed vertically crushed and with a slight offset.
For now the workaround can be used that I submitted here: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xse … te_3682903

... this configuration section in eg. file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-modesetting.conf can be used as tested on QEMU Video Virtio:

Can you elaborate on why this is the case? I'd rather give the benefit of the doubt that there could be a good reason, but frankly this sounds quite suspicious. I'd not expect any fancy interface for viewing / interacting with them, but if they aren't even publicly available anywhere, I'd not expect any competent user to accept the packages or use the repo.

Also if they don't differ (much) from the stock arch linux packages, how can there be "functional and performance enhancements"?

You're new to the forums and posting about a repo with no transparency. Again, I'd rather not assume ill will, but that's a lot of red flags right from the start.

w/o https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Reproducible_builds it's blind trust anyway, but w/o the PKGBUILDs is even a black box as to what I'm even supposed to buy into.

Before creating the repository I checked the Arch Wiki guidelines and found nothing about the requirement to provide the PKGBUILDs upfront. I checked some existing repositories and saw that some provide them, and some don't, and that it's even allowed to provide unsigned packages. So, I postponed submitting the PKGBUILDs to the AUR. As I do not have an account I wanted to register for one but the site showed me:
New account registration is temporarily closed
Registration on the AUR is paused while we deal with a wave of automated account creation.
Hopefully that restriction will be lifted soon and I completely understand there will be users that do not want to install packages for now; that's their prerogative of course.

Instead of beating around the bush why don't you resolve the issue? Post the text of the PKGBUILD's here and settle the matter or just keep engendering mistrust.

Putting them into a subdir of the repo server or uploading them to a (linked) public git repo might be more useful, but I'd like to stress again: w/o support for reproducible builds you're still down to *trusting* the binaries w/o any chance of verification.

Many of the user repos build AUR packages, some are maintained by TUs - but as the big fat red warning at the top of the page makes utterly clear

Making the PKGBUILDs available somewhere and submitting them to the AUR are two completely different things. There is no need to submit them to the AUR. Just be transparent about what you are building and what flags / options are enabled.

But at this point it really is a 'lady doth protest to much' issue.
