Hello,
I cannot reach the virtual console and shell prompt when attempting to boot from a live USB carrying the 2026.09.01 iso, on an ASUS ExpertBook B1 (B1502cb) Laptop with an Intel Core i7 processor and integrated Intel graphics. The systemd-boot menu is reached and "Arch Linux Install Medium" is selected, at which point the USB stick's LED starts blinking. After about ~3 seconds, the blinking stops and ~0.5 sec later the machine hangs (e.g. the keyboard CapsLock led stops responding to toggles). Nothing is written to the screen. There is no recourse but a hard reset.
Please note the following extra information:
This machine has not had a previous Arch installation.
The USB medium was created with appropriate care: checksum of iso file verified, written with dd with conv=fsync, sync ensured before medium removed.
The live usb can be used to reach the arch shell prompt on a different machine.
This machine can boot from a Kubuntu 26.04 live usb.
In the 'BIOS' settings:
secure boot and fast boot are disabled.
there is no BIOS boot mode nor CSM. This is a UEFI only machine.
Intel Virtualization Technology was disabled with no appreciable effect.
The following boot parameters were attempted (via pressing 'e' in the systemd-boot menu and appending the boot options), with no appreciable effect: nomodeset, i915.modeset=0, acpi=off, debug. Please note that this machine has integrated graphics only.
As nothing is written to the screen nor a log that I can / know how to access, I have no idea how to proceed. I suspect there is some issue with the configuration of the live image that results in initramfs not loading correctly on this machine, but I'm not an expert in such things.
Any hints as to how to debug or work around to get an Arch installation working is highly appreciated. Thank you!

I got to the live usb's shell prompt. The workaround is the kernel parameter
ibt=off as mentioned a few days ago in https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=314942. Sorry for the duplication. Search engines and their "helpful" chatboxes did not show this post to me; I finally found it by searching this forum directly.
In a reply to that post, admin says
No logs from an archlinux install
; however, I find myself in the same boat as the post's op:
I [...] do not have a kernel log from a failed boot with IBT enabled to attach.
If any one can tell me how a log can be gathered from when the boot medium fails to load at a very early stage, please let me know, but I don't know if this is possible. All I can provide right now is more "anecdotal data": 2026.08.01 and 2026.07.01 images have the same issue. (Furthermore, and off-topic but I'll quickly say, so does Manjaro's latest, but Ubuntu and Mint's latest do not.)
Admin also says
The nvidia + intel combo that caused ibt=off to be needed has not been reported anymore in years.
As a point of clarification, insofar as this machine is concerned, it is not nvidia + intel combo; this machine has Intel integrated graphics only.
It is my humble suggestion that `ibt=off` be added to the wiki for this machine.
Thank you
