Latest Arch KDE + Steam Proton Experimental
After the latest ESO update I can access the game launcher, go into the game, I can hear the sound, see the changed mouse cursor but the screen remains blank.
I can even see cursor changing depending on the screen position - which means the game started nicely, I'm probably in the character menu, but alas the screen is black.
I'm using regular MESA drivers and AMD 6650XT GPU and Wayland.
Never ever had the problem with this game, so I suspect they changed something with the latest update.

Found the solution: SteamDeck=1 %command% in launch commands.

For me what worked was moving the shader compiler, it had been suggested by my GM from his GM discord:
mv ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Zenimax Online/The Elder Scrolls Online/game/client/shader_compiler/d3dcompiler_47.dll ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Zenimax Online/The Elder Scrolls Online/game/client/Offline
Yeah i've seen that on the official forums, but somehow I find this even easier. Great FPS, no drawbacks.

I’ve seen similar issues happen after game updates, especially when Proton or the rendering settings change. Since you can still hear the game and the cursor changes, it seems the game may be running in the background while the display fails to work properly.
