Help me? I can't power off the computer on archlinux0.8??

When i use the command 'halt -p', it only just power off the harddisk but not shut off the computer power!

Kernel version: normal kernel2.6.20

Is there a difference between "halt -p" and "shutdown -h now" ? I certainly don't have the apmd service myself and I shutdown and restart reasonably regularly...

Unless I'm too noob myself to understand what's going on, the command you want is "shutdown -h now"

The command "shutdown -h now" is also has above problem!!

How should i do?????

Are you running the acpid daemon?

Yes! I'm running the acpid daemon!  Because the gnome need acpid daemon to run "gnome-power-manager" to watch battery state!!

please don't spam the forum - there's no need to push a thread every few hours.

better post acpi related kernel.log entries and you may try to play with acpi=force or =ht boot options.

why don't u use the halt command?

if you are doing this from a regular user remember to chmod the halt command.

I had used the halt command, but problem is still existent!

I had tried to append the boot options "acpi=off apm=on apm=power-off" on grub cfg,
the problem is not existent, but i can't see the battery state!

I'm english is bad! Forgive me!

Try posting the logs like Andy said, otherwise no one can diagnose what the problem is.

Then read this from GOOGLE first one in my search!

Then try posting the logs again.

Oh yeah, if it doesn't work try posting relevant information like log files or dmesg.
