Re: HomuraOS (Custom ArchLinux Anime-Themed OS Based upon Homura Akemi)

Ok, but how to convert from a normal-archlinux.iso to a custom anime-character based OS (ArchLinux Distribution based on Homura Akemi) while doing HomuraOS?

Re: HomuraOS (Custom ArchLinux Anime-Themed OS Based upon Homura Akemi)

You don't convert an existing ISO into a themed distro. You customize an Archiso profile with your desired packages, configurations, artwork and scripts, then build a new ISO. The Archiso wiki covers the process...

Re: HomuraOS (Custom ArchLinux Anime-Themed OS Based upon Homura Akemi)

I'd use `archiso` to build a new customized ISO rather than trying to convert an existing Arch Linux ISO. The ArchWiki Archiso guide explains how to use the `releng` profile as a starting point.

First, I'd install the tools and copy the profile:

sudo pacman -S archiso
cp -r /usr/share/archiso/configs/releng ~/homuraos-profile

Then I'd customize `packages.x86_64` to include the desktop environment, applications, and themes. I'd place custom configuration files and assets under `airootfs/` and edit `profiledef.sh` to set the ISO name and metadata. The official Archiso profile documentation explains these files and their purpose.

Finally, I'd build the ISO:

mkdir -p ~/homuraos-out
mkarchiso -v -w /tmp/homuraos-work -o ~/homuraos-out ~/homuraos-profile

The resulting ISO will be available in `~/homuraos-out`. I'd test it in a virtual machine before distributing it.

One thing to keep in mind: customizing the live environment doesn't automatically apply the same theme and settings to the installed system. Those changes need to be handled separately if you want them to persist after installation.

Gabriel

But what if i wanted to do a new ArchLinux Like CyberSec Based Anime Distribution? is that possible to be done in ArchLinux since it's not Debian?

Yes. You could use Archiso to build a custom ISO with tools like Nmap, Wireshark and Metasploit, along with your own anime-themed desktop and configurations. BlackArch is also worth checking out: https://blackarch.org/

Re: HomuraOS (Custom ArchLinux Anime-Themed OS Based upon Homura Akemi)

Then what i do need to import the custom driven anime like ArchLinux variant as HomuraSecOS to the USB? That's just harder to do since we only use USB Flash Drives now

mkdir -p ~/iso-out
sudo mkarchiso -v -r -w /tmp/archiso-tmp -o ~/iso-out ~/HomuraSecOS

Atenciosamente,
Gabriel

The error that actually stopped the build is this one:

libburn : SORRY : Failed to open device (a pseudo-drive) : Permission denied
libburn : FATAL : Burn run failed

Everything before it is just informational output from mkarchiso and xorriso. The build only fails when libburn tries to open the output ISO file and gets Permission denied.

In your case, the output path is:

/home/diegothehacker/homuraos-out/archlinux-2026.10.16-x86_64.iso

The problem is not the directory itself, but the fact that mkarchiso was invoked without sudo. The command in your log shows:

[diegothehacker@myhostname ~]$ mkarchiso -v -w /tmp/homuraos-work -o ~/homuraos-out ~/homuraos-profile

Without root privileges, xorriso cannot open the output device (even though it is a regular file), because mkarchiso also needs root to set up the working directory and mounts internally.

The ArchWiki is explicit about this:

Build the ISO with the following command: # mkarchiso -v -w /path/to/work_dir -o /path/to/out_dir /path/to/profile/

Source: Archiso - ArchWiki

So the same command, but with sudo, should work:

sudo mkarchiso -v -w /tmp/homuraos-work -o ~/homuraos-out ~/homuraos-profile

One detail worth checking: make sure ~/homuraos-out exists and is owned by your user, since root will write the ISO inside it:

mkdir -p ~/homuraos-out

Re: HomuraOS (Custom ArchLinux Anime-Themed OS Based upon Homura Akemi)

Uhm... i have these errors and i do not know what do they mean? it's kinda unsensitive to leave this message error as the kernels are into the common non-modified ArchLinux, which is kinda strange to realize it up:
[root@myhostname build]# modprobe vboxdrv
modprobe: FATAL: Module vboxdrv not found in directory /lib/modules/7.2.10-zen1-1-zen
[root@myhostname build]#

The vboxdrv module is missing for the running Zen kernel. Install the matching headers and VirtualBox host modules:

sudo pacman -Syu
sudo pacman -S linux-zen-headers virtualbox-host-dkms
sudo dkms autoinstall
sudo modprobe vboxdrv

If it still fails, reboot and check uname -r. See the ArchWiki VirtualBox guide for the correct host-module setup.

Gabriel
