So one of the major changes as far I'm aware on the new 6.8 release is the dropping of X11 sessions, which is Ok, since X11 is already very old.
My problem is that my graphics card is an old Nvidia GTX660 which will it runs Wayland it runs it without any type of hardware accelerations, hence is it unusable since CPUs just go all 100%, making anything desktop related unbearably slow.
So, without buying a new graphics card is there any possibility of upgrading/running 6.8, or I'm stuck with 6.7 with X11 sessions?

2. in case kwin_wayland can operate on a GLX backend (most compositors can) you could start a plasma/wayland session as fullscreen GLX window on an otherwise "naked" X11 session

Thanks:
1 -> Nouveau: I've already tried to use it (purging nvidia drivers 470 and so on) but without success, lot of crashes and hangs. But this was a few months ago.
2 -> I'll check this.
3 -> I rather follow the "official" Plasma.

Was that attempt with vulkan-nouveau or xf86-video-nouveau ?
If the last one, try again with NVK .
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

It was with xf86-video-nouveau.
I can't quite remember what was the issues, but it was a lot of crashes with some Plasma apps and overall slowness.
Next weekend I'll try again.

overall slowness
Nouveau suffers most from never clocking up =>
