Re: portmap fails on bootup

Run /sbin/portmap in a terminal as root and see if there's an error response.

Re: portmap fails on bootup

Same issue here. All of a sudden too. Since I'm running testing I figure it's some kind of conflict with an update.I  have been blindly updating the past few weeks.

[scott@black ~]$ sudo /etc/rc.d/portmap start
:: Starting Portmap                                                      [FAIL]
[scott@black ~]$ sudo /sbin/portmap
[scott@black ~]$

I'm sure it'll eventually work itself out. Or, I'll find the cure. Either way I'll post back.

Re: portmap fails on bootup

Well it was a bonehead move on my part. My NFS issues turned out to be hostname related. The issue with portmap not starting "seems" to have been cured by putting it before netfs in the DAEMONS array. As per the wiki. Strange that I never had it this way before and NFS always worked fine. Who knows. Maybe a new thing with the new testing Kernel?
