Test system speed

Hey!

Is there any way to test my system speed ? I'm using this version "Linux seno 2.6.20-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Mar 24 10:51:35 CET 2007 i686 Genuine Intel(R) CPU           T2400  @ 1.83GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux" in a laptop and its very slow to open gnome-terminal or gnome about, etc...I don't know if its the system that its slow or the GNOME. How can i test my system to know if its running normal or if its the gnome ?

regards!

Re: Test system speed

Just curious are you connected to the internet/network?  I notice when my network connection goes out, gnome slows to a crawl.

Re: Test system speed

Perhaps you don't have localhost set properly in /etc/hosts or lo interface disabled in /etc.rc.conf.
