Video depth

I have a short question for you: It's possible to have a 32 bit resolution on linux? The maximum for me is 24 bit but sometimes, specially in videos, image lost quality an sometimes it appears made linke squares....

I have an ATI radeon X700 mobility  PCI-E with last ati drivers.

Thx a lot,
Riccardo.

Re: Video depth

In videos maybe it is the codec? I have no idea. But most of mine are the same in the same setup. For a while those "not free" DVDs played directly and seemed slightly less bright and more pixilated than when PowerDVD played them. Then an update to the codecs something like 6 months ago improved my experience alot.      Everywhere else I haven't noticed any real differences. I am pretty sure Stalwart is right as well about the 24 as that is what is said in xorg when you configure it.

Re: Video depth

What Stalwart said is correct. It's 8 bits for each color channel and an alpha channel. So technically, it's 24 bit color even for 32 bit.
