Delete the menu file xfce4 will autogenerate a new one..you might want to just move it first in case the problem is more serious.

Could it be you are using the svn version of Xfce? The menu system is being rewritten.

@junglepeanut
I've tried it, but it wasn't successful
@jasper
I'm using the extra one, not the svn
I see that Xfce 4.4.1 is in the repos now. May be the new code could fix it. Let's try

I would send you mine but I doubt we have the same programs installed...
If upgrading doesn't work you could just rebuild using xfce4's tool or one of the many menu builders out there mmaker is ok, no icons and it lists a lot of stuff. (Save your original as you may not like the way this looks and configuring it with icons could take a while but there are other programs out there.)

Make a backup of your config: mv ~/.config ~/config_backup
Log out and log in XFCE.
Now restore the config: rm -rf ~/.config && mv ~/config_backup ~/.config
Log out and log in XFCE.This has solved the problems for me.
For me not

It is because xfdesktop crashes ( segfault )

w0c45_x86: try this:
sudo gtk-update-icon-cache -f -t /usr/share/icons/hicolor/
this fixed it for me, no trouble with xfdesktop crashing for me.
from what i have found this needs to be run everytime you add icons, or the installer has to change the mtime of the dir, this isn't happening with xfce so...
