Re: The Compiz Topic

yep, same here. compiz-plugins-extra (which btw should be called compiz-extra or compiz-extra-plugins, since compiz-extra is the official name) causes those problems when it's being installed.

Re: The Compiz Topic

Probably because ported beryl plugins don't come with a schema file and it must be generated with bcop first but bcop in Arch repositories is old and you have to build it first.

I think that karmapolice is right.

Please, wait the update big_smile

Excuse me

EDIT: We haven't any bcop version in extra, current or community. I need to move compiz-plugins-extra to unsupported... It is the only solution.

Re: The Compiz Topic

bcop is in unstable but haven't been updated for a while.

What I suggest is generating the schemas on your computer and upload it somewhere else, or update bcop-git in unstable to the latest version and in the PKGBUILD instead of trying to install the schemas first create them and then install them.

It is really easy to generate the schemas.

There is the compiz-extra-plugins. Disinstall the community version and use this ( and help Contributor to improve it ). Thank you!

How do I run compiz under xfce4.4? Or does compiz not work well with xfce4?

Re: The Compiz Topic

Updated the wiki...is the compizrc script no longer needed? I still use it, but in the wiki it just recommends

compiz --use-cow --strict-binding --replace gconf

I removed compizrc script because each one needs own script with own option.

Re: The Compiz Topic

News:

- As you see, I've upload compiz-core 0.6.0 ( version 4 ) that fix these problems:
  - No decorations on NVIDIA configurations ( start compiz with the script compiz-start )
  - Bad schemas in compiz source

The problem with nvidia configurations is for gconf plugin; If I remove it, all works ok. Any feedback?

And, by the way, when compiz fusion 0.6.0 will be released, I will put it in community, so stay tuned!

Bye

I'm so confused right now, So first there was compiz then beryl and compiz, then they merged into compiz fusion and now instead of one project we still have compiz and compiz fusion???

What am i missing now? or is compiz fusion all the eyecandy for compiz? or do they replace eachother?

Re: The Compiz Topic

compiz-fusion are only plugins; they need core, that is compiz.

Re: The Compiz Topic

Hello DaNiMoTh.
Could you move compiz-fusion from unsupported to community?
I am currently using Beryl from [extra], it's perfectly stable on my desktop with Intel 910.
If compiz-fusion is also stable, why not distribute binary packages, like Beryl?

Re: The Compiz Topic

Yes, the moving is programmed when compiz-fusion 0.6.0 will be released.
For the first time, I will upload all packages in my personal repo ( I will give address when ready ) to tests all stuff.

If you want to test, use this repo:
[danimoth]
Server = http://jjdanimoth.altervista.org/arch/i686 .

You can see the packages here: http://jjdanimoth.altervista.org/arch/i … ?dir=i686/ . These are fully compatible with compiz in [community] .
For now, there are only emerald and some configuration programs, because compiz-fusion 0.5.2 works only with compiz 0.5.2 and not with compiz 0.6.0.

When all stuff are ready, I will announce it here.

Thanks

Re: The Compiz Topic

What's the difference between 1.Danimoth's compiz-fusion and 2.nesl's? From what I can understand 1. is for official releases, and 2. is compiles from compiz-fusion's git. Is this right?

Re: The Compiz Topic

FAQs:

- You can start compiz-fusion with:
compiz-manager ( this script need to be improved..)
or compiz --replace ccp && emerald --replace &.
You can use gtk-window-decorator or kde-window-decorator as same as emerald.

- You can use ccsm for configure compiz; Note that you will need a re-run of compiz if you want to see the modify ( this is that I've tested ).

- Other things when they came up on my mind big_smile

Have a nice day
