Is there a way to install fusion-icon-git without the compiz*-git deps? Or is a package for compiz 6.0 in the works?

There is. The package is called fusion-icon.

I started some month ago with beryl, an old nvidia card (64 MB) and an old mainboard with an Athlon XP 3000+. By now I got used to the nice features and tried nesls compiz fusion, which is not an improvement at all but runs okay on my new board/CPU/nvidia (Athlon64 3000+, GeForce 6600 GT 256 MB). I'm slightly confused by the two repos now. Can't you two (nesl and Danimoth) join to unite the forces? What use is it to start two repos? I don't mean to offend anybody but... it's somewhat hard to understand...

Nesl's repo is for -git, untested, features.
My ( temporary ) repo is for testing the new version (0.6.0) before it goes to [community].

I don't know if there's a better place to give feedback, but my laptop been freezing up a bit since I installed from your repo this weekend. It seemed to mainly happen when I was using the expo plugin, and has been behaving better since I disabled that, though it locked up this morning as soon as I logged in. When it freezes the mouse works, but nothing else does, can't even switch to a console and I needed to turn off the power and restart.
The computer is a lenovo T60 and I use the i810 drivers.

So, if you disable expo plugin it works?
If not, you can switch to another console and give
killall compiz
killall emerald
[yourwm] --display=:0 &
where yourwm can be xfwm4, kwin or metacity...
In this way you can see the output for the fusion-icon or compiz-manager programs.

Checking for texture_from_pixmap: not present. --> This is the problem.
I don't know how resolve, but I think that you have the same problem with compiz, compiz-fusion ( my and nesl's). I am right?
This isn't a problem that depend on my way to compile packages.
A google search will be useful IMHO.

I am running compiz-fusion on a Radeon 9250 card using libgl-dri and mesa.
compiz-fusion runs but displays two problems (the first of which is easily solved):
1) Panels and menus are displayed with an ugly while border. Solution is to set the Window Decoration Shadow Radius to 8.5 or larger.
2) At login the GNOME lower panel is hidden until the desktop is clicked with the mouse.
EDIT: compiz-core-0.6.2-1 and compiz-decorator-gtk-0.6.2-0 fix problem #2. Everything works well now.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough. When it freezes it won't repond to anything so I can't switch to a console. I was thinking that the problem might have been something with the expo plugin since it tended to freeze when I was using that (the freeze would happen while it was zoomed out), though I've had it freeze a few times since then outside of expo, usually when I first startup my session and all my auto start apps are opening. Once I get it to load correctly it's been pretty stable.
A second issue I've discovered more recently is that the lid switch seems to be misbehaving. The screen won't come back on after I close the lid while it was working fine before. I did update the kernel about the same time I installed compiz, so it's possible it's related to that. I need to investigate this issue more to see if it's tied to compiz or something else.

Here's a funny one -- When using compiz I can't interact with the volume, play or pause buttons on youtube videos. Any clues?

Ever seen this before Danimoth? When I switch to the Compiz window manager (using fusion-icon) Emerald won't properly decorate windows and the terminal output is:
* Detected Session: gnome
* Searching for installed applications...
* NVIDIA on Xorg detected, exporting: __GL_YIELD=NOTHING
* Using the GTK Interface
* Metacity is already running
(This is where I switch to Compiz)
* Setting window manager to Compiz
... executing: compiz --replace --sm-disable --ignore-desktop-hints ccp
compiz (decoration) - Warn: Property ignored because version is 20061011 and decoration plugin version is 20070319
Any insight would be appreciated, thanks!

Nevermind, uninstalling emerald and making sure to reinstall emerald from your repo fixed the problem. Stupid mistake.

.
Compiz works great except that one problem. Btw it seems to be only problem in the gtk window decorator, emerald works just fine.
(got ati with the new drivers)

Ok, Now it's the time to resume what problems depends on the way that I use to compile compiz, and problems that depends ONLY to compiz-source, because in this case I can't do anything.
When we fix all packages-related problem, I think it will be the time to put * in community.

@DaNiMoTh: I've just upgraded to packages from your repo. Works great! The only problem I had was with emerald, but after specifying explicitly that I wanted the one from your repo it worked like a dream. Besides of that the compiz-icon while minimized on the tray does not have any icon which is a bit funny.
thanks

compiz-icon? or fusion-icon?
There is another program 'fusion-icon-tray' to get the icon...
btw, I start compiz with script:
fusion-icon&
sleep 20
fusion-icon-tray&
I had to add 'sleep' line because otherwise fusion-icon-tray was running too early and producing only error message... so icon appears 20 seconds after starting xfce (probably it could be reduced to 5 safely).

fusion-icon I meant. Thanks for the hint, I'm a bit lost with what is what. Where can I find the fusion-icon-tray that fixes the icon of fusion-icon when it's on the tray :-)
Offline
I just have it with the packages...
$ locate fusion-icon-tray
/usr/bin/fusion-icon-tray
$ pacman -Qo /usr/bin/fusion-icon-tray
/usr/bin/fusion-icon-tray jest własnością fusion-icon-git 20071021-1

ok. I'll try git packages.

I've noticed something else, in the WiKi they say that to start compiz-fusion on KDE start one should create compiz.desktop in .kde/Autostart. The compiz.desktop has the following line inside:
Exec=compiz --replace ccp
and if one executes fusion-icon it starts:
compiz --replace --sm-disable --ignore-desktop-hints ccp
so I just replaced in the compiz.desktop:
Exec=compiz --replace ccp
with
Exec=fusion-icon
and so far it is working fine. I have the icon and compiz is working ok, I did not have too much time to test but it looks ok. I tried to find out what "--sm-disable" and "--ignore-desktop-hints" mean, but so far unsuccesfully.

My fusion-icon compile with the same PKGBUILD of nesl. So, I don't know where is the difference.
Tomorrow I will talk with brain0 for the move on community.

Just a few words to say it works for me (Arch current with gnome and nvidia-96xx).
I used nesl's Git-packages before and I had to -Rd them all manually AND I had to rm some 30+ files which were reported to be in userspace when trying to install your packages. But now everything works like a charm.
What I did to make it work (except for the removing of the old files):
1. Install compiz-core and compiz-decorator-gtk from AUR
2. Add DaNiMoth repo to pacman.conf
3. Install all packages in your repo
4. Add 'fusion-icon' to the autostarted programs in my Gnome session
Zl.

what will happen to DaNiMoth's repo when those packages make community?
Will it just remain as a testing repo? so I can just leave it in my pacman.conf and when a new cf comes out upgrade from it again?
