if you want everything working off the bat..or a much shorter step to everything working....
then I might recommend fedora, ubuntu, or maybe mandrake. They do alot more for the user setup-wise.
May be worth a look.
If you want to invest some time, and work towards getting things working (it may take some more effort), then I am sure people around here will answer your questions if you ask them.

To invest some time is not a problem.
Archlinux is fine. Just not shore about video skype, ipod, and printer.
I start today, Installed fresh voodoo.
Fixed ATI drivers. XFCE4 for the moment.
I'll setup basic things first.
Thanks

Very good question! That annoys the hell out of me atm. Skype doesn't seem to work with wine and gaim doesn't support
skypes private protocols. ekiga works but is more like netmeeting... ![]()
What do think guys? Is it possible?
Yes.

photoshop -> may I recommend krita
for video/audio chat, with msn or yahoo protocols, IIRC both kopete and gaim support them
you can install them without installing a full-blown kde desktop.
my ipod nano works like a charm with gtkpod, and now with banshee (except for id3 tags which contain ONLY japanese, and only when I read them back in banshee)
epson printer, check cups+gutenprint drivers
wpa2, no problem with wpa_supplicant. wireless drivers is another question, but it's much less a problem nowadays.

To know recursion, you must first know recursion.

Older versions of Photoshop should run with Wine. Never versions are heavily locked with DRM software that the Wine project will not implement. Krita is not anywhere in the ballpark of Photoshop, nor will it be for a long time. Gimp is still the most powerful of the free bitmap editors. And the Gimp devs are now starting to toss around the idea of having some full time payed developers in order to get GEGL fully integrated. That will end the necessity of Photoshop for almost everyone. Of course, no one actually knows when that will happen.
