For my part, I get seemingly corrupted packages when I fill up the partition on which /var/cache/pacman/pkg/ resides. You may want to check that.

I downloaded kdelibs from ftp.parrswood.net twice and both times it was corrupted.
Then I downloaded a third time from somewhere else, and it was fine.
Is it possible that the parrswood mirror has a corrupted file?
BTW, thanks very much, kritoke, for answering my question.
