hello
after changing my mind a million times, I ended up with a dell inspiron 6400 and now trying to get acpi stuff working which I never did on my desktop. here are a few question, hopefully someone can help
1. I want to start kde battery monitor but for some reason it don't appear in system tray. I loaded all of acpi modules and started acpid but the applet won't show!
2. I configured lm-sensors as per wiki, loaded the modules it said (i2c-dev,eeprom, coretemp) but it gives me little information:
# sensors
coretemp-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
temp1: +62 C (high = +100 C)
coretemp-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
temp1: +62 C (high = +100 C)
coretemp-isa-0001
Adapter: ISA adapter
temp1: +62 C (high = +100 C)
coretemp-isa-0001
Adapter: ISA adapter
temp1: +62 C (high = +100 C)
shouldn't it show more info?
3. which leads me to third question, even though I load fan modules there is no entries in /proc/acpi/fan. all other acpi dirs have entries, so why won't fan work and why won't lm-sensors read the other acpi modules?
thanks very much for any advice you can offer.

well, I fixed the fan issue by forcing the i8k module and using i8kutils and i8kmon.
(I needed to restart kde also to see the battery monitor!)
