I am trying to install vmware.
I have downloaded the .tar.gz from here:
http://download3.vmware.com/software/vm … 867.tar.gz
and here:
http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?d … s=0&SeB=nd
Its the same package I seem.
The problem is simple. I uncompress it: tar -xzvf VMware-server-1.0.2-39867.tar.gz
Then I get a directory: vmware-server-distrib
I move inside it and if I run: sh vmware-install.pl
I get:
...

Or, if I try to install ir using AUR I type: makepkg
I get: ==> ERROR: ./PKGBUILD does not exist.
Whats the way out of this? I try to install vmware.
Thanx for help:o

From my past post:

Whats the way out of this? I try to install vmware.
Thanx.

Make sure you have the file called PKGBUILD in the dir?

Downloaded and installed vmware client yesterday. First I ran the "prepare scripts" from wiki. After that the vmware install script.
Got the same error as topicstarter but "solved" it by accident by starting the script from "mc" instead of native bash.
Don't know why but I am glad it worked. The vmware-supplied scritpt works perfectly and the "horror stories" from the wiki are not valid anymore.
[my personal opinion]
installing an old version of gcc for the sake of to installing a specific application is horror to me
[/my personal opinion]
Now I can transport my virtual machine images from the windows-partition to arch.

Somewhere between "too small" and "too large" lies the size that is just right.
