Quick Sound Issue

I'm having an issue with alsa--it won't start.

harold@apollo: ~ $ sudo /etc/rc.d/alsa restart
Password:
:: Saving ALSA Levels                                                    [DONE]
:: Restoring ALSA Levels                                                 [BUSY]
/usr/sbin/alsactl: set_control:1085: bad control.7.value type
                                                                         [FAIL]
harold@apollo: ~ $

I tried restarting it, and to avail, I got the preceding output.

This just started happening yesterday, after I rebooted my computer for the newer kernel. Could that possibly be the problem?

Help is greatly appreciated.. I miss my music already. sad

Re: Quick Sound Issue

I was having similar problems with it (it was complaining about the PCM control for me).  PCM control also stopped working.  I messed around with it a bunch... tried re installing pacman -S alsa-lib alsa-utils, deleted /etc/asound.state, ran alsaconf, tried playing with alsa mixer deleted asound.state again.  Tried loading and unloading sound-related modules.  Nothing seemed to work... after a while I got the Front channel to work (alsamixer still couldn't change PCM).  After a couple of reboots it's working fine now.

So my advice is try all the above, give up, and then it might work after a few restarts.

Yep, I restarted about 4 minutes ago and it works fine now... how odd.

Thanks for the help!
