reading SIM cards

I've just been to a conference and was given one of these, OMNIKEY CardMan 6121 USB Dongle (http://www.txsystems.com/sphinx_readers.html#CM6121) as a freebie.

I was told that I could use it to read mobile phone SIM cards, can I?

From some googling it is supported by linux and dmesg shows that arch does pick it up and install the necessary drivers. Unfortunately all the docs I've found are either trying to sell the device or are highly technical specs on using it for crypto stuff. I've tried using the muscle app but there doesn't seem to be any beginner docs on how to use it or to do anything with it.

Can anyone tell me anything about actually using this device?

I'm looking at it purely as a toy/gadget, I'm not into crypto tokens and don't plan to get into them so some easy reading would be good.

Re: reading SIM cards

What exactly would you want to do to the SIM card?

Re: reading SIM cards

I don't know, what could I do with it?

I suppose the obvious application is backing one up, apart from that I don't know what my options are.
