Hi, just started trying to use Arch today. Been using various distros for about a year (mainly Debian, Ubuntu and Fedora). I hope to learn more by using Arch and give back to the community.

Hello world
I'm a total noob to the whole linux scene, so i will be hanging around the forums asking for some help and advice to
my problems. I'm from Finland so my english isin't that good. I hope you all don't nuke me for that . This seems
to be a really good system I'm looking forward to get down with it.
Cheers

Hi all,
I installed arch on a netbook last week and feel like I've finally found my true distro home.
Thanks to all for building such a great community --- I've already learned more from the Arch forums and wiki than I did in a year and a half of using other distros.
With pacman and ABS, arch truly does offer the the best of both worlds: easy binary package management with the possibility of ports-style builds.
I look forward to contributing what little I can to the community.

Hello everyone! My name is Greg.
I have always liked a challenge which is partially why I shifted from Windows to Ubuntu. After a while, I found myself doing the same commands and actions without too much variation. I found myself relying on the GUI for a bunch of different things, like extracting from an archive.
I found Arch and it fit with my style; Minimalist, open and not for a newbies. Granted, I am still a newbie but I know Arch help me break from that.
Thank you.

Hello everyone!
I'm not new to linux, and neither am I new to Arch. I started out with Red Hat Linux 7, I believe it was back in 2002... After sticking around with Fedora Core 1-3 for a while, distrohopping for a long time and then spending about a year with Gentoo and FreeBSD, I discovered Arch Linux in 2005. I've stuck with it ever since (alongside Ubuntu though, but it targets an entirely different niche...)
Arch Linux covers my personal needs, and it does so with elegance. Keep up the good work!

HELLO ARCH USERS!
"I'm a newbie to Arch" and frankly still a novice to Linux... I would consider myself fairly adept with M$ XP but I really want to give up my dependancy of Windows... ( and I really don't see why I can't, nearly everthing I do in Windows I can do in Linux, I think its more of a comfort thing, its what I'm used to )
Anyways, I chose Arch because of the level of "Do it your self and learn" mentality. So here I am. I'm not much of a forum poster but here ya go.
Thanks for putting the time and effort in this.
UsuRpergoat
PS: As you can see I registered quite awhile ago but I am going to stick with Arch for awhile.

Heya, everyone!
My name is Juhani and I come from Finland, the land of polar bears, moon speak and also a certain penguin. I've used Arch for the last six months now, though I created a forum account only now. :) It's been very enjoyable to use Arch - it's the first distro that has sucked me permanently out from the world of strangely coloured windows. I've dabbled with Linux every now and then for some five, six years or so, though before Arch I had Windows running/walking my main computer.
What made me interested in Arch? First off, an incredibly enthusiastic school friend nagging about how awesome this distro is... When I tried Arch, it was thrilling to be able to decide exactly what I want under the hood of the distro (namely awesome and other lightweight goodness instead of the usual suspects), no need to hassle with dependencies either due to pacman. Everything just works - or at least it is easy to figure out how to fix it. The best way to learn Linux effectively, in my humble opinion. Also, the Arch wiki is superb. It started popping up on Google every time I searched something linux-related, and I noticed how informative it actually is. :)
I study software engineering and I hope that some day I'll be good enough a coder to contribute to the community - which seems to be very friendly and productive indeed! Keep up the good work! :)

Love Arch, no false advertising. Just grabbed 2.26.29 kernel. Feels like 1989 playing super mario bros for the first time! Constantly surprised by both Arch and Linux as a whole..

Hey, just installed arch earlier and is still setting everything up, but I was really surprised how easy everything went when just following the beginner's guide. So far the worst "trouble" have been half-accidentally choosing the default mirror that's capped at 50 KB/s and forgetting what the essid for the wireless at home was
Made the switch from windows to ubuntu 4 months ago and decided a few weeks ago to give arch a go, just had to wait for school to finish. Kind of stupid trying to do a potentially troublesome OS install in the midst of exams and final deliveries.

Hello humans. I have been using Arch for about 6 months but decided to get in the forum instead of just lurking.

Hello!
I've been using Arch for about 3 years (since version 0.7.2) but I have never participated in forums or mailing lists, nor in AUR. I have a blog (in spanish) in which i talk about free software, OSs and sometimes about Arch Linux.
