Hi!

I'm Mike from Portugal, I'm new to Arch and also new to Linux systems!

I decided to choose Arch because it was the one that caught my attention initially when I was looking for a distro to start.
Soo i've decided to learn the installation process and how stuff works,
It's been a week since i've installed Arch, today i'm using i3 as a wm and i'm already in love with it!

Hello everyone!

I'm very new to linux. Read that this is the best distro out there. Was a challenge in installing it at first, but I caught up! Hope to learn a lot here. What projects do you suggest that I should tinker? Btw, I have knowledge on embedded C programming.

Hello all. Long time listener, first time caller. I've been using different linux distros since 1996-97, but have taken long breaks due to family resentment (1 computer, no linux love, multitboot scares them). I started using Slackware 3.* and think I remember downloading 32 packages or so on my 28.8K modem, putting each on a diskette, and enjoying formatting my computer each weekend and seeing how fast I could reinstall, configure, compile, etc. Over the past decade or so I've only used distros that autoconfigure and detect everything, and my knowledge of the internal workings have all but faded. I'm hoping to regain that knowledge, and have the same love for tinkering as I used to. All help will be welcomed. Thanks for reading.

Hi all.

I'm new here, and new to Arch. I was convinced by the Arch Linux wiki page to try it. I've installed it once and I'm still reading the wiki pages to gain a much better and thorough understanding of the system.
I like the idea of having a clean operating system, it feels like (if I may say) the Sublime Text of operating systems XD I used and actually am still using Ubuntu, but I want to get rid of that OS. The reason to get rid of Ubuntu is mostly because of the hardware issues I have. My graphical card is still not fully supported, to give an example.. I like Arch's idea of the rolling-release system.
I'm pretty sure that switching to Arch is a good decision. I'm excited to learn more about Arch and to setup my system with Xfce4 and Conky

I'm new to Arch Linux and I have come from the Apple Mac range. Over the past two or three years I have been disappointed with the Mac. The new model iMacs have lovely screens but the MacOS does seem to get bigger and bigger and you really need new CPUs every couple of years to keep up. My main problem with Apple, however, is that they seem much more interested in gadgets and have placed their desktops on the back burner. I played with a Raspberry Pi and installed Arch Linux on it. I liked it so much that I bought a cheap Intel NUC5CPYH and installed Arch Linux on that. With xfce4 as the Desktop Environment, I have a very low powered desktop and a 24" BenQ monitor which does everything I need for a workstation. I'm always surprised at how Linux just doesn't seem to catch on with consumers. The Arch Linux Installation Guide is very thorough, though a little difficult to wade through in parts and I found a couple of youtube tutorials helped quite a lot. A big selling point is PACMAN and that plus Trizen (or yaourt) seem very good at keeping my system up-to-date without any hassles. In short, I'm glad to be here.

Hi everyone!  Pat from California here.

I started using Arch about two weeks ago and I am enjoying it so far!  Using it has helped me learn about the inner workings of my system better than any other distro or OS that I've used in the past.

With this forum, I'm optimistic that Arch Linux will continue to be my OS of choice for years to come!

Hi, I decided to use Arclinux because many of my problem regarding linux often landed in this forum for the solution. Been using it for a week i guessed.

I've been in love since I took the dive, and no other expression of Linux even comes close for me. Hello all!

Long time Linux (and also Windows) user from Norway... Windows by day, Linux by night - or something like that. My work unfortunately involves a lot of Microsoft products still.

After many years on Debian and derivative distros, I installed Arch on a VM a couple of months back. The sense of accomplishment and feeling of total control made me take the leap the same afternoon; I now run Arch on both my desktop and laptop, and I can't imagine turning back.

So far I have found the answer to all my questions on either the wiki or by searching the forums. Since I haven't had a reason to post any questions here yet, I thought I'd say: Hello!

Hello Arch Friends,
This is my first day of using pure Arch and I also used Arch and Debian based distros before. I cannot believe how many times I have reformatted my laptop these days, it's.... countless.
From what I can feel, my machine is behaving extremely well with Arch and this is an incredibly optimized operating system.
The documentation in the Wiki is strongly defined and this is very useful for all users. I am very much appreciated!
