Digiatl camera - access to whole card

Hi everyone!

I've got Canon A710 IS and I need to download files from it. I can't use gphoto because there are also non graphical files on my SD card. When I plug in the device dmesg shows:

usb 1-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3
usb 1-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice

And that's all. :-|
But I can't mount anything because there isn't any sd* devices in my /dev/
What can I do? Maybe some udev rules?
lsusb:

Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 03f0:1504 Hewlett-Packard DeskJet 920c
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 04a9:3138 Canon, Inc.
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

I've tried to search forum but its everything many solutions are related to gphoto.
The article on arch wiki about usb devices has disappeard. Where can I find it?
In  addition I may say that under Windows XP my camera is automounted ad hoc and I have access to whole card memory.
So under linux it must be possible to mount it too.

Make sure your camera is in Mass Storage mode and not PTP.

Re: Digiatl camera - access to whole card

If you have a card reader you might be better off just taking your memory card out and plugging it in to the computer, but I guess you don't wink.

Use fdisk to check whether any storage devices have been added after the camera got plugged (they will show as /dev/sd* yes).

Also you might want to read up on PTP, so you get the whole picture. PTP is intended for transfer of pictures, no more. As for the rest... I agree with the person above.
