Scanner recommendation for Arch?

Hello all,

I'd like to do some basic pic scanning and OCR of a doc or two. Anyone had any good sucess under Arch with any of the current brood of scanners?

The Canon Pixma range of multi-function thingimmies seems to perform well, but what about for Linux?

Any experience out there with scanning? What software do you use?

Thanks!

Dale

Check this.
For scanning I use Gimp, for OCR some old ReadIRIS 7 under wine.

Agree, check link. I use a hp scanjet 4300C and it works great, had it for a few years now. Had one problem with it jamming half way through a scan and that was with windows. No such problem since I dumped MS for linux.

HP scanners are best they detected automatically and no driver error.

Any scanner with 'complete' support on that page.
I would recommend Canon LiDE 60 because I use it, it is not out of stock and is cheaper then HP.
