kexec and having /usr on seperate partition...

I just installed kexec-tools and the package installs its files into /usr/sbin. Problem is that i have /usr on a separate partition. In /etc/rc.shutdown, this partition gets unmounted before kexec is actually called, so in this present state the kexec-package is quite useless to me...
Even if I were to copy it to /sbin, it's still linked to /usr/lib/libz.so.1, so that's probably not an option as well...

Anyone know of a decent way to handle this?

bugs.archlinux.org

maybe kexec ought to be statically compiled and move to /sbin?
