hi,
i was using kernel26beyond (2.6.19) till a few days ago, yesterday i've tried to switch to kernel26ck, everything worked except toshiba_acpi... i tried to load it manually (modprobe toshiba_acpi) but it said something like "error: hardware busy" or something like that, i've also tried with the kernel26-ARCH and i had the same problem.
At the end i've back to kernel26beyond and now everything works again....
Any suggestion??
------------SOLVED-------------
I've switched to kernel 2.6.20-beyond in testing that's not using toshiba_acpi patch and now everything works fine, i just had to build the nvidia-71xx-beyond module against the new kernel and that's all.

When i try to load the module:
modprobe toshiba_acpi
FATAL: Error inserting toshiba_acpi (/lib/modules/2.6.20-ck/kernel/drivers/acpi/toshiba_acpi.ko): Device or resource busy
in dmesg:
toshiba_acpi: Toshiba Laptop ACPI Extras version 0.19a-dev
toshiba_acpi: HCI method: \_SB_.VALD.GHCI
toshiba_acpi: failed to register misc device 181 ("toshiba")
BTW... i have found the cause looking at:

that's all....
