Wellll I tried for an hour to get my Bearpaw 1200 scanner working in Windows XP, and it just flat out refused. I tried it in linux, installed sane and xsane, gave myself permissions to usb and it worked first time Took less than five minutes.
Marvellous

CONGRATULATIONS :!:
Same goes for my 1200UB Mustek. Darn thing would lock up my Win98. Never locks up when using linux (through many distros) including the use of libusb.
seems to scan faster also.

congratulations ...
to make the list longer: also my "Canon LiDE 30" works great under arch --- if someone searches a loud, slow but great in quality and relatively cheap scanner (usb-powered and small, good for field-studies, as long as your laptop battery works )
