Re: Openoffice don't start

Hi,
I think we need more information here to solve this.
Is it the first time you are trying to start it?
Which packages do you have installed, show us a "pacman -Qs openoffice*"

Re: Openoffice don't start

it's not first time i start openoffice. it alway worked...

local/openoffice-base 2.2.0-4
OpenOffice.org - a free multiplatform and multilingual office suite
local/openoffice-de 2.2.0-2
    OpenOffice german language files
local/openoffice-spell-de 20051111-2
    OpenOffice german spellchecker files

I just played around with eclipse, etc. (java) could this be a reason?

Reading through this thread may get you closer to a solution:

Re: Openoffice don't start

Are you by any chance running the proprietary nvidia drivers? if so, does using the 2d nv driver instead fix it?

Edit:. After reading skottish's post, it seems the Ati drivers may cause this as well.

Re: Openoffice don't start

reinstall don't worked for me. i reinstalled everything depends with OO. jre, etc. i deleted my .OpenOffice folder too. Nothing worked... it seems that other apps aren't working, too.

If i try to play a movie over konquerer with my mplayer it doesn't work, if I play it with mplayer over a console, it works.

The link from skottish was no help for me I don't understand where there is a solution?

Here's my xvinfo:

Re: Openoffice don't start

I don't know if this is the only problem but I can see at least one :
with the nvidia driver you should not have the line
Load  "dri"
in the Section "Module"

In my xorg.conf, I don't have also the line
Load  "fbdevhw"

You may try to comment out those lines, or at least the dri one.

Re: Openoffice don't start

Hognof, did you try using the 2d 'nv' driver instead of the 'nvidia' driver?

Re: Openoffice don't start

Also give the output of :
grep "(EE)" /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Re: Openoffice don't start

Can you answer to hussam's suggestion please ?
So we can know if the nvidia driver is the cause of your problem.
