Powersave

Hi guys,

does powersave work on Arch64? There isn't the package in repos and I didn't try to compile it. I installed hibernate-scripts but they don't work on my machine (the monitor gets black after resume).

This is my configuration:

Mo/Bo: ASUStek P5B Deluxe Wifi Edition
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400
RAM: 2GB DDR2 667Mhz (Kingston)
Video card: nVidia 7900GT PCI-E 256MB (non-free module)
HDD: Maxtor 320GB SATAII

Any suggestion on how to make suspend to RAM and to disk work?

Re: Powersave

The script should not make any difference, suspension to ram is a kernel stuff. The script helps you to do some custom stuff required to circumvent problems in the  modules and in the video adaptor. In my experience, the hibernate-script is more flexible (but does no magic). For suspension to disk, there are two kernel methods, available in the different kernel flavors provided by arch. In the suspend2 project (available through kernel26suspend2 and kernel26beyond) there has been major attention to 64 bits specific issues, but I am not informed about the current status of the matter.

Did you install vbetool and play with the different settings for vbetool in /etc/hibernate/common.conf ?  Consider also SwitchTextMode and other options documented in 'man hibernate.conf'. They are able to circumvent 90% of these issues.

Re: Powersave

Vbetool isn't available for Arch64. I tried to compile the package manually but it fails building... sad

Re: Powersave

Could you try with the 0.5 version?
