[SOLVED] udev not starting anymore

Good evening,

since yesterday, hal does not seem to work anymore. I got dbus to work again by deleting /var/run/dbus.pid and restarting it, but hal simply won't start. As the error message is not very verbose, I have no idea how to handle this problem. Any suggestions or similar problems out there?

[root@celestary chaosgeisterchen]# /etc/rc.d/hal restart
:: Stopping Hardware Abstraction Layer                                                                                                                                                                         [FAIL]
:: Starting Hardware Abstraction Layer

Removing /var/run/hald.pid did not help either.
