Audio File Permissions

I have brilliantly managed to stop Amarok and Xmms from being able to play my music library - I've been having problems with the permissions and couldn't edit the files with the Amarok track information editor. In trying to fix this I have made the files inaccessible for playing... the file permissions look like this

drw-r--r--  2 ewan users 1288 2006-11-26 16:36 zhao_jiping-electric_shadows
drw-r--r--  2 ewan users  968 2007-01-14 10:33 zutons-who_killed_the_zutons

Can anyone help?
