I voted yes, because development is the only thing I know anything about.... Without it, what good am I here, but harmful pranks?

Well, it gets funny once you try to find out what the really weird languages are ... ;-) ...
And I don't know if it's funny or sad when I look at the VisualC++ example .... (or some other OO examples ... (duck and cover ?!?) ...)

Re: "Running Arch LInux": Developement User

I voted yes but I am curious to know what extend this forum will be. Is it only for general discussions about AL development and programming language / scripts, or can we also include script projects (related to AL)?

Example, about the incoming package database I thought first to use an existing php - mySQL system (Weps) but rather would like to have a simpler system. Somehow I can manage to develope the base script but will require help in advance scripting. Is this a type of topic for this forum, though I would prefer to copy the script(s) in some type of "Developer Wiki" where anyone can edit the script.

hmm ... the original idea i think is to collect posts (and give chance to) let developers (not only for arch) but running arch to post their comments/experiences/... about issues (positively and negatively) using archlinux as an OS for coding for your project

it is analogue to "Games User" "Workstation User"

EDIT:
posts like this should be in this category:
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … highlight=
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … highlight=
and the one that was unfortunately hijacked by some funny people

Re: "Running Arch LInux": Developement User

With respect to rasat's question : Maybe it should be called "Coder Forum" and not "developer" because otherwise it may be confused with devdelopment of Arch.

Also, I just replied to a thread about GCC library path. That thread could then go into this forum, too.

well... it's not a forum itself (or can we run a standalone additional one?) ... it's only a category, but i like the "coder" idea:

Coder Zone?

I resent that! I don't think there was anything at all unfortunate in that experience! :-D

Maybe the forum(category) should simply be called "programming" or "coding". It's more self-explanetory.

After asking / checking around if possible to add a Developer / Code forum, in general its said scripting is not arch-specific. Moreover in Internet there are plenty of such forums.

To some extent I agree but here we are speaking about making it for Arch Linux. At the other hand doesn't it come under "user contributions". If so, its upto them not AL.

To get to know if an user contributed wiki for AL scrpting would be handy, I have setup an experimental site. Actually wanting to have a collaborated input on the database project for incoming packages "Arch Incoming Register".

What do you think:

I have extended <b>User Contributions Wiki - Programming</b> with forum: <b>Arch Users' Project Discussion</b> to discuss about the user contributed projects in Wiki.
http://bliss-solutions.org/archlinux/pr … /index.php

I also included, in the new forum, one <b>How-To</b> forum to discuss about programming and languages what have been here asked. Difference from the original idea to learn about programming by discussing, in the forum you can "learn by sharing and working" on a project. wink
