Hi,
I think it's time for a real Wallpaper Contest, because other Distrubtions had more then enough and my Arch Linux (FluxBox) need also one( or more ) :'-(
So I think: Hey! () Why don't they start a real Contest and the best will be added in the PageLogos-Wallpaper Section, ok i'm not sure about adding because i'm not an admin.
Hmm.. let's start? Ehm it must be something with Arch Linux
Hope you like the idea

The section is simple : "User contribution" - and there are some wallpapers over there. Not a huge load, though (search for backgrounds or wallpapers). Of course, new ones never hurt.

Well, it's not the same as wall paper, but what I would like to get (or make if I could get the time) is a small "Powered by Archlinux" banner for my web pages. Anyone know if there is any out there somewhere?

Found one with a search on this site.

I really like that style, it reminds me of a comical "POW" or "BANG!" or something from the old batman or spiderman series.
dp, the reason i included the release number was becuase i was getting inseration from the names. Ill see if i can come up with some general ones.

dont misunderstand me: your wallpapers are really cool ... and connection to releases are also great, but additionally one or 2 so great styled wallpapers would be really cool having :-)

Those ones are GREAT!!! Great work Jake!!! Keep it up!! (and keep giving some 1600x1200 ones. I sometimes feel like I'm the only person who runs that res!)

OK, I'm being a smartass now ;-) ... :
Note, that resolution is not everything. You can usually drive every monitor with a resolution higher than the monitor has actually pixels on. And the monitor manufacturor will happily advertise these too high resolutions. If you take a ruler, measure the actual size of your monitor (which is usually less than what they claim it is - yet another story), and divide that by the dot pitch, you get the actual number of pixels in that direction. So, if you have 1600 pixels in the horizontal direction, you have either a really large monitor or a really small dot pitch.
Just search google for "dot pitch resolution monitor" or some variation thereof. Unfortunately, most sites don't talk about the fact that monitor manufacturors overestimate the resoltion in their product descriptions.

Is that why larger resolutions on some monitors are fuzzy?

Yes, since you are squeezing more than one pixel produced by the graphics card into one physical pixel.

exactly, but some people have physikal UXGA and all other resolutions than 1600x1200 look horrible on such a TFT

I know. That's why I have a Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2070SB. (Native Resolution 1600x1200). I don't mess around when it comes to graphics.

Hi all, sorry to resurrect a dead thread, but I made some svgs you might be interested in. I did these before i saw the official svg. I drew it over the png available here, and it does seem a littler more true/ smooth than the other one. Feel free to disagree anyway. It's here
and feel free to take the svgs and do what you like with them.
Ditto for what you guys might be more interested in:

Just have a look around http://www.dcs.warwick.ac.uk/~csucil/arch/ and use what you like. The desktops are pretty simple, but clean. Please, please feel free to jazz them up. This is my first ever svg work, but its a lot of fun. Gotta love sodipodi
