Hi everyone, i'm new to the forum so I introduce myself.
My name is nicolas, i'm from santiago de chile and i've been playing around with linux like a year by now.
I have installed debian, ubuntu, suse and slackware in my dell 1501, but i'm having troubles trying to install archlinux on my dell.
Every distro i have to put pci=nomsi at the boot prompt to install every distro... but when i try to install it in my dell typing
#arch pci=nomsi
it doesn't recognize my hdd, it is a 80gb 5400rpm SATA
i've been trying with arch-scsi, arch-nomsi, and nothing!
the version of archlinux that i'm trying to install is 7.2
is there any parameter to archlinux to recognize my hdd? or should i try installing 8.0?

id say try the newest snapshot or you could look at this
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ins … her_distro
how to install arch from another distro
then you might be able to add whatever if anything to kernel line to get it to boot

that would be a solution, but i would prefer to install it direct from boot, and not from another distro, i would let that choice for my last chance installing arch, but thanks anyway
