Network won't start up

When I boot up my machine it fails to start up the network.  After it is booted, I can do a 'dhcpcd eth0' as root and it comes up fine.  Why doesn't this work for me on boot?

He already has the gateway disabled, why would commenting those lines help?

I don't see any obvious problems with the rc.conf. What happens if you do a "/etc/rc.d/network start" instead of running "dhcpcd eth0"? You could also try moving network to later in your DAEMONS list, although I don't have any good reason for suggesting that.
