Blender AUR Package and Partcile Patches

I have downloaded and been using the AUR Blender-CVS package for weeks now.  I want to patch the Blender Code with the current patch for particles found here:

Do I need to make a separate folder in /var/abs/local for the blender with the particles patch?  (Currently /var/abs/local/blender-cvs holds my Blender AUR package.)

Do I need to make a NEW PKGBUILD and add the commands to retrieve the patch and patch the code, THEN install it?  I'm new to this AUR stuff, I have skimmed the Wiki and wonder if I'm on the right track.
