cannot boot after running pacman -Su

My system refuses to boot after I ran an upgrade.  The kernel hangs with this message:

Uniform CDROM Driver Revision: 3.20.

Any suggestions how I can fix this?

Re: cannot boot after running pacman -Su

I had the same problem... I fixed it by actualy powering off my computer, waiting for a few seconds and powering back on... I have no idea where that came from, but i haven't had the problem since...

That's probably somewhere in the middle of your initramfs, right?
Have you tried rebuilding that?

Ok, I tried that.  It still stops at the same point.

Re: cannot boot after running pacman -Su

What are you using for a boot manager? Lilo or Grub? Does the kernel lock up; your lock lights on your keyboard will flash (scroll lock, num lock..)?

Re: cannot boot after running pacman -Su

I finally found that I had to add acpi=off to the Grub menu after I did the upgrade.
